Dry the River opening the Bowerbirds North American Tour
On Halloween night, 2009, we played a ghost-ridden show in a spooky downtown Edinburgh, Scotland, basement club, with a new band called Dry the River, from London. They had opened for us the two preceding nights, in London and Glasgow, during which shows they had held us, and the audiences, at rapt attention, and this Halloween show was to be our last chance to watch them play.
Even though they had just gotten their band together a couple months previous, they were incredible live, and their songs were immediately both beautiful and impossible to get out of our heads.
We went out that night after the show and partied a little too hard with them — memories of that night get a little vague towards the end of the night — but we have since kept in touch, and we’ve gotten to watch as they’ve been gaining attention and fans, and basically blowing up overseas.
They have yet to do a proper tour of North America, so when we realized our two bands were releasing our albums on consecutive days this coming March, we immediately started to plan a tour together. Dry the River will be opening all but three of the dates of our North American tour (see below). It’s going to be amazing.
