So this is a movie of when we went canoeing the other day out here on the salt marshes of the North Carolina coast.  We took our dogs, Olive and Spice.  Spice, aka Smallrus, the smaller of the two, hadn’t ever been in a small boat before.

In this video, you might notice Beth’s mullet spirit animal hat (mullet is a type of bait fish that lives in these swamps), but right at the end of the video you will see Smallrus making an unexpected run for it.  Pay close attention.

(addendum:  Spice was fine.  We have been training her to swim on an inland river, so she swam around the canoe to Beth, who picked her up using her useful harness.  She was cold, but fine.)
